And Nasu stated that Medusa would have the advantage over him in a long range battle. He doesn't state the reason why, but probably because of Bellerophon.

 

What about Shirou stating in HF that Archer would most likely win in a fight (IIRC in the school when Rider went back to being Sakura's Servant)?

That was situnational. Shinji was uncapable of providing her with any mana support so Medusa was uncapable of using her Noble Phantasms. Although unmentioned, her parameters would be pretty low compared to her usual parameters due to still being Shinji's Servant a second before that because Sakura was unable to provide her with mana support due to Shinji activating the ''curse''.

She even took a surprise hit before that, iirc. She was probably in an even worse state because of that considering she could at least use a NP back in Fate route. So yeah, Shirou's statement more or less holds to be true in that situation. Albeit, even Shirou himself found it strange that Medusa repelled Emiya regardless and even when they thought Emiya could end her in the next strike, Medusa acted like she still has a chance.
