Synopsis​

Painted in red, the word "VON" is all that is left behind after a terrorist attack on a nuclear facility in Japan. The government is shattered by their inability to act, and the police are left frantically searching for ways to crack down the perpetrators. The public are clueless—until, six months later, a strange video makes its way onto the internet. In it, two teenage boys who identify themselves only as "Sphinx" directly challenge the police, threatening to cause destruction and mayhem across Tokyo. Unable to stop the mass panic quickly spreading through the city and desperate for any leads in their investigation, the police struggle to act effectively against these terrorists, with Detective Kenjirou Shibazaki caught in the middle of it all.

Zankyou no Terror tells the story of Nine and Twelve, the two boys behind the masked figures of Sphinx. They should not exist, yet they stand strong in a world of deception and secrets while they make the city fall around them, all in the hopes of burying their own tragic truth.

 

Episode 1 was interesting. I assume the boys and seemingly Lisa were apart of some sort of government experiment which is why they are doing what they are doing, as some sort of payback? I feel bad for Lisa. Poor girl being bullied and they forced to cooperate with them. I assume the school teacher is actually a detective.

 

With episode 2, things are heating up. So they planned their next bombing and uploaded another video. Despite how obvious it is to the viewer, apparently no one else that knows them can pick them up, lol. The video provided a riddle to give them a chance to stop it, but this failed so it went off. Surprised how lax a police station was about a delivery but allowing someone to freely walk through to put it there. No checks or anything. Feeling sorry for Lisa still. Her mother is unhinged and now she's being threatened with death by those responsible.

 

Episode 3 was interesting. So the "teacher" wasn't a teacher at all but a detective in archives. Feel like that should've been alluded to better in episode 1 lol, but whatever. He's come back in the force and answered the riddle to do with the third bomb, nice. Then challenged them head-on. Some more Lisa suffering too.

 

Episode 4 was pretty good. So Shibazaki was able to solve the password which otherwise would've solved the entire case, but because of the other police jumping ahead, they decided to leak all police reports, oof. Had some more Lisa and then she was taken away by the dude on the motorbike. Tbh, feel like Lisa is Shibazaki's daughter and her mother his wife.

 

I hate dropping things, so I definitely will. I can't help but think that character may be Five?

Just got done with episode 5. So Twelve and Nine don't actually want to kill anyone, but there's some larger reason they are doing this. I like that Shibazaki is putting it all together. Was pretty amusing the moment with Lisa trying to cook for them. Not sure what Five's angle is, considering that she almost killed a bunch of people.

 

Episode 6 was pretty good. I like that Shibazaki came to the conclusion that it wasn't actually the original that set up this bomb and he and a few of the guys are investigating themselves. So the FBI is involved now? Lol. I also get annoyed by this stuff in these types of anime. So it tries to be pretty realistic, but then is like this one person will monitor all 1500 cameras in the airport? **** outta here, lmao. Especially when it shows like 20.

 

Episode 7 was good. So they won the chess game then Nine somehow overrode the camera feed with old footage whilst he stormed the place of Five. Only to have Lisa have been kidnapped and put on the plan with a bomb. Lol, she seems like a mistake to have involved. They got the detective to work with them and get it sorted. Still, no idea why they let someone that would kill people in charge.

 

I get that feel too.

Yeah, not a bad art style used.

 

Episode 8 was good. Bein Lisa is truly suffering, lol. Five seems rather unhinged, tbh. Even blowing up a hotel for next to no reason. Surprised something so reckless and bad for everyone can fly. It was rather obvious Lisa would be taken hostage when she left. Her entire character is a plot device. RIP the detectives taken off. Seriously, so ungrateful for the good that they did. Liking the private investigating.

 

Episode 9 was fantastic. So the 3 numbered children were indeed apart of a government experiment. All but those 3 died. Five was recovered by a US agency hence why she's with them and Nine and Twelve escaped. Interesting that the person in charge was the guy that died right at the start. Then there was Lisa. Nine found her in the Ferris wheel with bombs strapped around her, lol. Tried his best to disarm her but caved to the deal to save him for the bomb location. I assume they foresaw this as Twelve got the bomb. Five seems to care for Twelve. Interesting.

 

Episode 10 was decent. Everything coming to ahead. Shibazaki questioning the old guy about it all and the entire project was to develop human weapons basically. Nine turned himself over demanding a conference and Five got out of the hospital which was due to the illness. During Nine's transport, she interferes to free him due to her feelings then offs herself. The ending being pre-recorded Nine announcing the atomic bomb. Wonder how this last ep will wrap it up.

 

I enjoyed the anime in all. A rather sad ending. So the boys just wanted what happened to be known as they were never even given names. In death, Nine requested that they not be forgotten. Damn US had to come in and shoot Twelve dead. It all ended up coming out in the end, though.
