Synopsis​

After surviving the brutal challenges of Idofront, Riko now possesses a White Whistle, allowing her to descend into the Abyss's sixth layer—The Capital of the Unreturned. Alongside Reg and Nanachi, Riko begins to explore the uncharted domain, where the ruins of the promised Golden City are located.

As the trio starts to adapt to the harsh environment, they soon encounter dangerous creatures and treacherous landscapes. Their expedition leads them to a village inhabited by strange beings known as "hollows." Despite the creeping sense of unease that welcomes them, the three venture onward to uncover the mysteries of the settlement and long-lost legacies of the forgotten adventurers who once descended into the horrors of the unexplored Abyss.

Episode 1 was interesting so far. Opened with pretty repulsive stuff happening to poor Vuelo. Tortured and abused and probably raped too by that disgusting old man. Truly awful. At least now she is away from him and with an expedition exploring for the golden city. They've picked up a native girl who seems to have been treated similarly. I suppose they'll meet up with Riku, Reg and Nanachi.

 

Episode 2 was pretty wonderous. So many interesting things in this. Not to mention how spooky it was that someone was watching them and stole from them/plucked hairs and they didn't know. Then all of the body parts. How ominous. Also, the end, "We didn't know you couldn't keep your human form from here."

 

Episode 3 was interesting. So they've entered an establishment based on bartering items and the value. We witnessed the animal get hurt and Riko indicated it was priceless, so the creature's things were destroyed and it killed. Brutal. If I understand correctly, the hollows were once people that ventured into the abyss but couldn't make it all the way. Due to a strong will of protection or whatever, they mutated into what they are now. Reg has also encountered a hollow princess, interesting. Other expedition group looks fucked.

 

Episode 4 was good. So somehow Reg's name was Reg prior to Riko naming him. He also has a past with the hollow princess. All of those things sure were creepy with Riko, but luckily the one which died somehow came back and saved her. Now they're travelling together. Somehow Mitty is alive, even though she was completely destroyed by Reg. Poor Nanachi.

 

Episode 5 was good. Reg was in trouble, but has made it out thanks to help from the other creation like him, an observer. So the girl from the other group was from a long time in the past. Now they somehow lived locked up in that awful place, but Riko freed her. Nanachi traded itself for Mitty, but Mitty is just a copy that the giant creature had created. Riko is in a tough spot to get them either needs both legs, both eyes or half of her internal organs.

 

Episode 6 was pretty good. That thing that was attacking was pretty dangerous, but thanks to Riko getting Prushka back, Reg showed up and dealt with it. Now he's off the fine the hollow princess again.

 

Episode 7 was good but fucked up. So the old team made it. Learned that they couldn't go back up otherwise they deformed. They had no food or water at the golden city, so had to survive which was a struggle. The water was contaminated by some other creature which was killing/deforming people. They put the relic into the girl from the other tribe Irumyuui. She disfigured horribly, and then had her wish which was apparently being able to have children. Those "children" were creatures which would just die. In the end, somehow she saved the towns people. I assume that Wazukyan either fed Irumyuui or her "children" to the people in that stew thing. Irumyuui thought of Vuelo as a mother as she "had the scent of someone who had mated with many". The context being completely fucked because of her backstory. For Irumyuui's mother though it was to have lots of kids.

 

Episode 8 was something. So Irumyuui continued transforming into that giant grotesques creature that continued to birth things doomed to die. Wazukyan fed those things to the people which helped them. He also get Irumyuui another of those golden egg things which likely caused the mass mutations. In the end, Irumyuui moved to another location and they the city formed around her as she turned into basically a tree thing. A final thing was born which was the hollow princess. I suppose the promise with Reg was to destroy the village. All of the people became the hollows by offering themselves to Irumyuui.

 

Episode 9 was good. So the promise was to destroy the village, in a roundabout way. Letting Faputa in to kill everyone and destroy the place. Reg had to use his blaster to ward off the other sage.

 

Episode 10 was amazing. There's heaps of backstory to Reg and Faputa. They were friends long before Reg met Riko. Riko just fucked everything up by wanting to save the people, which were supposed to die to Faputa. Reg had even promised Faputa to help her destroy them, then they would travel together and probably have kids. But not it's all fucked up because Reg lost his memories and does whatever Riko wants. Pretty sad.

 

Episode 11 was something. Faputa got destroyed once those other things got in. She completely healed up now. Was a nice touch how Belaf gave Faputa some memories of her mother.

 

Episode 12 was good. Faputa consumed all of the hollows then destroyed that place including her mother, finally putting an end to it all. As if poor Vuelo didn't suffer enough already, had to half mutate her and leave her to die suffering. At least she and Faputa had a nice moment. Hopefully Faputa joins the others at some point.
