Having died in a car accident, Tsubasa Kurata—an otaku from modern Japan—is reborn in the Fremmevilla Kingdom, a medieval world where powerful mechs called Silhouette Knights are used to fight horrific demonic beasts.

Born into a noble family under the name of Ernesti Echevarria and bestowed with prodigious magical abilities, he enrolls into Royal Laihaila Academy. This school of magic trains young men and women on how to pilot the Silhouette Knights, prepping them to protect the kingdom from threats, both demonic and human. Ernesti teams up with the twins named Adeltrud and Archid Olter with the goal to create his own Silhouette Knight one day, a feat unheard of for several centuries.

Episode 1 was good. Kurata was a pretty genius level programmer, and also a huge otaku, loving robots. He was tragically struck down and killed by a truck.

Reborn into a new world filled with demon beasts, magic and robots/mechas (although no one knows what that means and refers to them as Silhouette Knights. Now a young Ernesti, he dreams of piloting one. Although originally a bit of a slow bloomer, Ernesti buckled down and improved leaps and bounds with everything to achieve his goal. He also trained two friends, brother and sister Archid and Adeltrud.

When they got into school, they helped out a dwarf kid Batson who was being bullied. This led to them being introduced to the dwarves who forge the rods, which are used for magic and such, and Ernesti requested a what is basically a gun/rod combined thing.

During one of the magic tests, Ernesti was adequately competent enough to skip ahead to middle school, so he could learn a the higher level. Ernesti is also planning to have his own custom Silhouette Knight created.

Three years into the future, they go out on some school exercise and during the knight a massive amount of demon beasts attack. The younger kids flee while they older ones cover them, but the older students start getting overwhelmed. Ernesti, Archid and Adeltrud go back to help, and some of the Silhouette Knights also help out. Some giant monster thing also appeared at the end.

 

Episode 2 was good. The people piloting the Silhouette Knights tried their best to hold it off, but the monster is extremely powerful and overwhelming them. Seeing one of the Silhouette Knights being incinerated, caused one of the others, Dietrich, to run as he didn't want to die. Ernesti found him, knocked him out, then made some adjustments and piloted it, to join the battle.

Ernesti seemed to perform basically better than everyone else. He formulated a plan with Dietrich to control it to land the finishing blow, while he cast magic externally. With this, they were able to take out the division-class demon beast. Seems the king isn't a fan, and sees Ernesti as a threat almost.

 

Episode 3 was good. Ernesti had his meeting with thing king, who seemed to test him with his questioning, which Ernesti picked up on this and thankfully his answering of the questions satisfied the King, and it seems he's even favourable with him now. As a reward for his efforts, he requested the technology/understanding on how to make the reactor for the Silhouette Knights. As a condition to receive this, the King tasked him with building a frame first. If successful, he would teach him about the core.

The design change that Ernesti proposed was two additional limbs at the back to hold the magic staffs and then basically redesigning the inner structure to be stronger and more efficient.

A mock dual was held to demonstrate it, and they would've won, but ran out of mana. So they still achieved their goal of having it pass the test! They also developed smaller suit version of the Silhouette Knights.

 

Episode 4 was good. After the test, it was back to trying to rework the design more to remove the issues with the mana drain/capacity. The idea is to keep it less humanoid, but it seems rather challenging.

Ernesti and the group were summoned by Marquis Dixgard who wanted to review the Silhouette Knights. It ended up being some sort of trap to test them. When Ernesti was finally with the Marquis, he seemed intent on basically stealing the credit and reporting to the king directly. Even so, he seemed to think that Ernesti had alternate motives, so it may have been less about taking credit, and more about just seeing if he was a traitor, etc.

After being split up from Ernesti for a long while, the rest of the group is finally going to where he is with the Marquis, but it seems that another force is laying a trap for them.

 

Episode 5 was good. The students set off to meet up with Ernesti again at Fort Casadesus. Meanwhile, the order of the bronze fang went and stole a bunch of the new Silhouette Knights. This caused a battle between them.

The rest of the students gathered, and the switched to the much smaller suit-like ones to counter attack. They were much faster and more nimble, allowing a successful counterattack. It seems like at least the leader of the order of the bronze fang got away, but seemingly they were successful.

 

Episode 6 was good. So the stolen Silhouette Knight was handed off to the Silhouette Knight Laboratory so they could research it and try to understand how it worked to mass produce it. Seems the lead person is jealous of Ernesti.

While the Laboratory were busy with their stuff, Ernesti and his group were redesigning it to fix problems. During a test, things went bad and it exploded and Ernesti was almost hurt, so this sparked further redesigned. After 6 months, the Silhouette Knight Laboratory is pitting theirs against the newly overhauled design by Ernesti's group. They have some horse-like one which towed a wagon carrying more.

 

Episode 7 was good. The battle went pretty well for both groups. Eventually Ernesti's group pulled the win, but it was close.

The lead Laboratory Knight smith fanned a lot to Ernesti over his designs. It seems he's also got inspiration to continue innovating. I guess despite the previous talk/interactions, he isn't really out to get Ernesti in that way.

The king relinquished the throne to his son, then both he and the grandson Emrys requested new Silhouette Knights made by Ernesti. A Gold Lion and a Silver Tiger were made and they both wanted the Gold Lion. In the end, they had a battle against it. Emrys did win, but either way, the Ambrosius was going to let Emrys have the lion, but he was satisfied with the battle.

 

Episode 8 was good. Ernesti and his group fought off a massive amount of demon beasts. While others continued fighting the smaller demon beasts, Ernesti confronted the massive queen and was able to take it down himself.

With the win, Ernesti's wish of learning all about how the reactors were created was granted, to a degree. He was allowed by the ambassador to travel to Alfheim village, where it could be asked if he could learn about it, but it wasn't guaranteed. After travelling there, Ernesti met with the Great Elder Kitley, who in the end allowed him to learn it. Although previously the way they created the reactors was unique to the elves due to how their unique biology was, Ernesti was able to come up with a method of using the same techniques.

With the new knowledge, the creation of his own custom Silhouette Knight was conducted and completed and named Ikaruga.

 

Episode 9 was good. It focused mostly on a war between two kingdoms. Zaloudek attacked the Kingdom of Kuschpercha with their new Silhouette Knight. If I understand correctly, that was actually the one that Kerhild stole, or at least, it was stolen and used.

While the kingdom was falling the king ordered his daughter, the princess, to flee. She tried to refuse to go without him, but was eventually shut down by the people around her. During the princesses escape, they ran into people of the Zaloudek Kingdom. Unfortunately, the second prince of Zaloudek Kristobal took the princess, intending for her to become his wife.

Ernesti's group went to Kuschpercha, and started to fight the occupying forces of Zaloudek. In the end, the Zalodek people fled and seems like Ernesti's group are intent on saving the princess.

 

Episode 10 was alright. The war went in full force. They split off to search the different possible locations the princess was held in. Archid was the one to actually find the princess, and he declared that he would be her knight. Seems like she likes him.

After the princess was recovered, the battle continued. Zaloudek had several flying ships they used to attack. Ernesti's flying Silhouette Knight proved too much for them. They view him as a demon. Ernesti forced them to retreat.

The princess was a bit depressed upon her return. They all tried to get her to cheer up, but in the end, only Archid could manage it.

Zaloudek was also plotting a second attack. It ended up being the bronze fang who were all crushed.

 

Episode 11 was good. Zaloudek attack came and they were crushed by Ernesti and his group. The prince Kristobal was also killed. Horacio also noticed that it was flying with the reaction from explosive powder. This revelation allowed them to create a flying super weapon that would be used in a revenge attack after they fled from their failed attack earlier.

The princess ascended to the throne. Ernesti and his group also took the Silhouette Knights from Zaloudek's defeated forces to learn some things. So he didn't complain with the weapon that used his method of flight.

 

Episode 12 was alright. Somehow the big laser attack basically did nothing. Dietrich fought off Gustavo and managed to win, while Ernesti basically just kept countering the blasts of the big weapon. In the end, Gustavo called the retreat and the forces all fled.

Horacio cooked up some giant reactor thing to solve the mana depletion issue of the big weapon. Ernesti is also intent on stopping the way that they were able to damage his Silhouette Knight and ground it. The big final battle is up next.

 

Episode 13 was alright. The majoy final showdown was basically an air battle between Ernesti's creation and Horacio's. The other ground-based forces also fought a struggle of a battle.

Ernesti's group pulled a full win. Then, with basically nothing to loose, Doroteo made a last ditch effort to take out the princess, which was stopped successfully. The war finally came to an end. The princess was also crowned the queen. Ernesti also got whatever he wanted as a reward, and he ended up with his own Silhouette Knight manufacturing plant.
