I got to let off some steam on some computer repair I've been dealing with for about 2 months. My laptops been having serious overheating issues after having it for over 5 years.

So my cousin recommends a repair shop that I later find out has horrible ratings. So for about two months I've been dealing correcting things that I didn't ask them to do.

I initially bring it in for overheating when I get it back I can't really check since the new issue is my mouse pad is acting up looking back at it now I'm suspecting they may of messed with it.

Then I bring it back they say they'll take care the mouse pad and charge me a new battery even tho I bought a new battery a couple months ago. I get it back and find my computer has been wiped putting in Windows 10. First they dont tell me they wiped my computer having me believe they updated it.

I originally had windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 preinstalled I told them give back my factory settings than they are trying to sell me on why to keep windows 10. I never wanted to update to it because I heard from people it was to intrusive so I wanted to stick with my windows 7.

They say they would put back all my stuff I find out they instead installed Microsoft Office 2007 and recently I'm getting from the Windows 7 that is not genuine saying that I got a counterfeit copy.

So right now I'm trying to buy legitimate windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 from ebay and dealing with ebays shadiness of figuring out what's real and not.

I recently bought a new Microsoft Office 2010 I check with Microsoft is it legitimate they say it isn't but I research how a legitimate one should be it seems to fit it and working fine

I'm feeling like everyone's trying to hustle me in every direction from top to bottom does honesty in the business world exist are there actually trust worthy institutions.

Sounds like a shitty place. Overheating issue's may have been able to be solved by simply opening up the laptop yourself and cleaning it out, of it may have been a faulty fan that needed replacement.

In regards to the whole windows 10 debacle, you can disable the telemetry, that is, the sending data to M$. If you're interested in this instead of forking out more money, I'd recommend watching this TY video: (visit the link, because the description has some program links IIRC).

It is possible that windows 10 automatically installed and it wasn't their fault. This does actually happen, so it's another possibility. You should be able to revert to 7, but what bothers me, is that it apparently wasn't an upgrade otherwise you would've kept all of your stuff, so this perhaps isn't possible? Give it a google and see if you can not roll back at all.

For a cheap windows 7 you could try Kinguin. As for legitimacy of such things, eh, can usually be, but if the key works, even if it's not legit but you bought it, think of it as payback for M$'s shitty data collection shit that they don't tell anyone about? These big corporations look out only for themselves, so don't feel bad about shit like this.

No it wasn't a normal upgrade a friend advised me a software to use to stop windows 10 updates so they purposefully wiped my computer I gave the benefit of the doubt with a lot of things but I know it's on purpose now.

Just recently purchased a office 2010 sweating over if it's legitimate I can still probably get a refund through PayPal. Also looking for a legitimate windows 7. Microsoft is annoying with how difficult they make it in finding legitimate products.

Thanks for advice on Windows 10 I'll check it out the only good thing about this is I'm learning some stuff so I can't be screwed over like this again.
