Mafia should be about what content (or lack thereof) is in the game. Anything besides that is peripheral and not a valid way to Scum hunt.

Even though I do see the plus side in the immediate sense where seeing if someone is lurking the thread could lead to a Scum read (take Elsword game where 2/3 group Scum lurked), I feel this kind of info shouldn't be used in determining who is Scum and who is not because you can and should go after inactives in the game and that is just part of the game IMO. To combat complete inactivity, many Mafia sites have a post restriction where players must post X amount of posts per game day or be replaced or Mod killed. Also, lurking is a valid play for roles that are required to survive IMO. Taking away the ability to lurk change the way the game is played. It makes the game more about micromanaging who is saying what when than actually look at the content (or lack thereof) people bring to the table. It might be rough until this site has a more established meta on what to expect from lurkers, but on the whole I think in the long run, you don't want to have to rely on who is viewing the thread and who isn't to determine who is Scum. It could set a bad precedent for the site where the whole game is about going after people who are viewing the thread but not posting. The game is about Scum hunting, not micromanaging who is saying what when.

It can also be very misleading to get reads based on lurkers. What happens when someone forgets to close the game thread and then an accusation pops up against them that they are Scum for lurking even when they are Town? I myself have been know to keep a game open long after I am AFK. The supposed lurkers wouldn't be able to defend themselves because they are AFK, but people would still think they look Scummy.

Finally, I think we can take something from two of the biggest most popular sites who have sites dedicated to Mafia specifically. If you look at Mafia Scum AND Mafia Universe, they both intentionally do not put who is even viewing the thread at the bottom of the page. They have a very established way of how the game is played and I think for smaller sites like this, its prolly not a bad idea to copy what they do.

The majority wants the rule to be removed.

@SK, do you have any further inputs?
