It's interesting that Whis and Jiren both stated specifically "heat". Not ki but heat. There could be some new heated developments in the near future

 

Appreciate the constructive reply but you seem to put far too much emphasis on personal taste which makes you overlook the fact that there are very real objective standards by which we can judge a show. If you like how DBS has been going, good for you. Most of what you said was in the style of "well, I liked it" so idk what point is there in discussing this any further, as anyone can pull the "taste card" when it comes to anything. Noone's saying you can't enjoy it. However, just because someone enjoys it that doesn't mean the show is well made.

Having said that, I didn't complain about art or animation in this episode (I think it looked good) but the writing. This episode is definitely one of the better moments of DBS but it's still full of things that make (atleast the current arc of) the show subpar.

 

Read couple of chapters from the manga and wow I must say it's better than the anime. The pacing is way way faster, most plot holes that were in the anime get addressed in the manga and it is way more consistent in terms of fights and power level. It has it's own distinct differences from the anime which also make it fresh. Putting all this aside, does anyone want to see ultra instinct Vegito? Jiren would get his ass mopped.

 

Ok fair enough, let's take out the biased opinion.

The show started out rough, we all know that. Animation was horrible and writing was just kind of meh to be honest. But this arc has been way better than the rest. The writing isn't bad at all. The setting is in a place where everyone is kind of on a level playing field. Now Goku is an idiot to a fault that is something that I wish we could change, but I guess Toriyama doesn't want that to change. That would be my main problem with Goku. However, that is kind of negated by the way that the supporting characters are made aware of Goku's situation. They know him and thus know when he is playing and when he is serious. But honestly I think that makes a show is what happens that makes everyone talking. Right now everyone is talking about DBS and this episode. So obviously something was made right in this episode. I think this episode solidified DBS for a while. I can't think of any writing problems off the top of my head mostly because I catch on things quick. Now, there are times where I'm like, "really?" But I can't remember.

 

The heat was a bad sign though as Whis pointed out. It was basically indicating Goku was burning through the energy he obtained from the Spirit Bomb and it came off his body as heat.

 

Yeah I can believe that. It's just in the whole DB universe, this is the first time that Goku has had some kind of heat coming from him and not aura or energy.
