    do you guys use group announcements by chance to alert users?

    maybe you can do trial runs for things like pokémon showdown and alert every user of the site for now.

    try two runs for each thing that has some interest (make a poll for contest ideas and let users vote anonymously would be the next step after this discussion thread btw) and if you get a good following, once it becomes an official thing, you can have give users an option to opt into alerts in case they forget to keep track instead of alerting everyone (and those that don't want alerts can opt out)

    I did make one where a thread owner can alert too, but it's not done yet because I died.
