yu gi oh first was bliss rest are shit same for pokemon but XY and DP were great but not close to original

No it doesn't. A lot of factors come into play when deciding sucess with the audience. Being in the right place at the right time, the target audience demographic, marketing etc.

Lot of shitty things are super popular while being downright atrocious just because a lot of people are willing to support it while profound quality works go under radar.

Besides, I never said Pokemon sucks (well it does but back when it gained its popularity it didn't), I am saying YGO is objectively better than Pokemon. Both are milked and old but overall Yu-Gi-Oh! wins purely on story-telling, characters and creativity.
