In my opinion that depends on the person really. For example I would not ask someone "when is your birthday" or at least not depending on the atmosphere of the conversation. That may be too direct, informal, impolite, plus, being shy and at the bottom of social ladder, for me it would be simply hard . What if they go "mind your own bussiness"?
I'll ask @Ishi Insivel to correct me if I am wrong, but in Poland it's exactly "mind your own bussiness mindset". People don't want strangers or even people they know to bother them, disturb their time, ask and inquire about private matters. We are negative people, we complain a lot, we are pessimists. So there's that, it simply may depend on people.

Or maybe my view is just distorted by my own social awkwardness + I'm sleepy and what I just wrote is incoherent bullcrap O_O

Yeah I can definitely see that happening, and Gohan seems like the best candidate really. Still waiting for when King Kai finally decides to teach all his other students Kaio Ken... Imagine of Tien or Krillen started using it, they could actually be a decent threat. Or better yet Piccolo, who could probably shrug off the pain of x10.
