I thought that alternate universe shit wasn't the worst, it was an interesting concept, but didn't execute overly well.

I don't think a single well optimized UE5 game exists. I think across the board almost entirely optimization is dead. Barely any devs know anything beyond check marked solutions that "work" but aren't cost effective. Companies aren't interested in putting the time and resources into proper engineers/programmers. All of the people that maintained RED engine left, there's no one to maintain it. So they mass hire "new talent" that only know UE5. It's why largely every company is switching to UE which is why it's also bad because basically everyone is either incompetent or given impossible tasks within deadlines.

 

Not to mention that UE is basically entirely created/funded for fortnight and other commercial uses so shit doesn't scale to all of the other types of games such as open world.

 

Outsource's whole premise is flawed. It's impossible to do the same quality work for cheaper when every level is micro managed, underpaid and overworked. There can also be multi-level language barriers that create issues amongst other things. For example, Head company is in Japan, China, etc, and outsources to other languages. Directives get filtered through multiple levels of translation/interpretation. Imo outsource should almost never be outsourced between different languages where there is a critical need for specific/accurate detail/instructions. It just introduces too much room for error when shit can't even be accurately translated between languages half the time. That's just one aspect of outsourcing too and assuming outsourcing should even exist to begin with...

100%. It's a clown world. It's almost like it's flipped. What should be internal work is outsourced and the small unimportant shit that could be outsourced is internal.

Not only outsourced, but the also rely heavily on contract workers, iirc 12 month fixed contracts, spend 3 months learning the proprietary engine and then work for 9 months and then never get hired again. Gee, I wonder why the product was a piece of shit. LMAO.

Disgusting. These companies deserve to go broke.

Before you rage out at me for having a 7800x3d friend had a rough year and currently isn't working, Monster Hunter runs like shit on his pc (9900k 1080) so I'm giving him my 7800x3d/2080ti (i'm upgrading to 5090 regardless) so that we can both have a good experience with MH (it's our shit we have payed it together since we were 10 so even if I'm being a hypocritical piece of shit by supporting a mess of optimization It's just my one weakness).
