I once bought a Dell Oled, I had the biggest headaches, I wasn't able to look at the screen for even 30 minutes, it's such a weird feeling, your eyes get incredibly dry and it's so bad, I returned it.

 

I'll explore it! I don't game on massive screenes so I am very well fine with 1080p ngl.

 

I am not sure if it's due to monitor being faulty but I've never experienced such feeling, like you look at it and the screen doesn't flicker but you feel something's not right, it's like it's pulsing. Everything looks fine but your eyes get so dry, I gave it a try for 2 days trying to get used to but I just couldn't, getting headaches was shit and I hate headaches of all things the most.

PWM dimming is a method of voltage dimming/flickering to control brightness in OLED displays. The problem with this is that at brightness levels below a certain threshold, the PWM dimming produces a noticeable flicker that causes eye dryness, severe eye strain, and migraines (this happens to me).

PWM frequencies of 240 Hz with amplitude of 19% (or lower) are safe for most people, while those that are moderately PWM sensitive (such as myself) can be bothered by it. PWM frequencies of 480 Hz with amplitude of 9% (or lower) are okay for me. However, there are people (extreme PWM sensitivity) who are still bothered by this, and have to look for displays with PWM of 700+ Hz and 19% (or lower) amplitude.

A common misconception is that LCD displays don't use PWM. They do - at least on laptops and PC monitors, and some smartphones (like the recently released Motorola G75). But the frequencies are 40,000 Hz or higher. At best they can cause dry eyes and other forms of eye strain, not migraines.

Asus and Nothing both need a solid kick in the nuts for their misleading PWM claims. A few others as well, but those two are the worst examples.

The main problem with 4k, dear @JoeJoe - is that the price of those monitors is absolutely not worth the strain of running shit on them. You'd be better off saving money by getting a 1080p monitor and investing the same in other components.

Yeah, I once got a Dell OLED monitor for work (1280x1024) and it fukked with my eyes and gave me migraines. I went back to using an old HP VP17 LCD monitor (also 1280x1024).

Fun fact: That HP VP17 LCD monitor is from 2006, and is still working with a desktop in our office today. 18 years!

People who say shite like this are just mansplaining asshats. A 24 inch 1080p LCD gaming monitor is better than a big-ass 4k piece of crap any day, unless you're building a real monster of a rig. As I said before: better to get the former and invest the money saved somewhere else in other components.
