It still pushes Fascist shite every now and then, though. Especially so when there is a conflict or even a small skirmish.

 

My Grandfather passed away a couple days back. He was 92. He was the toughest person I knew both physically and mentally. Even at such an age he was mentally sound and had a great memory. He could read and speak 5 languages. He was never late to an event and he always showed up. He always lent a helping hand to those family members who needed help.

Our last conversation was the day before he died. He told me to never stop learning and always keep gaining knowledge. Compared to him our present generation is embarassing. We have stopped reading, and we have stopped thinking.

 

Thanks. Yeah he lived on his terms and passed away surrounded by loved ones.
Truly. That's how they get you to stop revolting.

 

I am so sorry to learn of this. I hope he went peacefully and without pain. Did he have some other illness? Or was it just old age?

I feel you. My grandpa and grandma (mom's side) were extremely progressive for their generation (they'd be considered progressive even by 2020s standards). But their kids (well, two of the five) and this one cousin? Ugh... They'd be embarrassed.

There is a marked rise in male illiteracy in the UK, according to this one youtuber I follow and my relatives there (four of whom work as doctors for the NHS).

India supposedly has a 2% rise in male illiteracy. Ditto for the US.

Meanwhile, China will probably be the first country to achieve nuclear fusion and keep religious nutjobs in total check. And Cuba has better HDI than most of the "West" despite being bogged down by US sanctions, piracy, and outright terrorism.

I swear, I look at my paternal cousins (except this one good bean) and see them as proof that we are doomed as a nation.

 

I still keep thinking about how Indiramma (maternal grandma) would have doted on my wife. She would have loved her so so much.
