All thanks to AI and them buying up ram supply for ram that isn't even manufactured yet for data centres that don't even exist yet, that require more power than can currently be delivered for a completely speculative gain.

Just remember @JoeJoe that EVERYTHING uses ram so even if prices aren't immediately up EXPECT INCREASES. Phones use ram. Laptops. Consoles. Not just ram, but also Nand in storage. So you should buy something sooner than later if you need it.

See, there's your problem. You bother with those shitholes.

    Drive safely, you snatch sniffer.

According to notebookcheck, yeah, their best new iGPUs are on par with the likes of the RTX 4060 and 4070. However, not only did AMD beat them to that level much earlier, the Intel iGPUs in question are that powerful only when paired with an i9 and ample fast RAM. The ones paired with the i5s should still be only on par with the GTX 1650M (highest wattage variants) and the ones paired with the i7s about on par with the RTX 3050M. We will have to wait and see if they are any better than this in actuality.

At this point, getting a Macbook would not be so bad, considering how Windows 11 is worse than dog-shit. Heck, a cousin of mine got so fed up, he switched to Mac outright.

Your alternatives, considering the expense of memory, storage, GPUs and such right now, would be to get a mid-tier DOS device with an AMD GPU somewhere and boot it up with Linux Mint, Manjaro, or even Bazzite or Nobara for gaming. Any Linux distro (even fukking Ubuntu) will run smoother than Windows 11 on a system that is half or even a third as powerful and even on a third of the RAM amount.

    Fair enough.

So, are you looking for a new PC specifically for work and/or entertainment (other than gaming)?

The worst part is that RAM/storage manufacturers can actually sell RAM and storage with only slight price hikes and still make profits. They are just price-gouging because they know those slop data centre cos will fork out the money. Samsung is a case in-point.

I hope the bubble bursts and they all come crashing down. I also hope these AI-bro CEOs get the Luigi treatment. They deserve it, fukking shitstains.

If it is just for entertainment and daily usage, just get Linux mint or some other easy-to-use Linux distro. Would be way cheaper than getting a Macbook.

That was the new panther lake ones? I saw they were also more efficient than the amd ones with better battery life.

You can still build a reasonable PC in this climate. It will cost more than it should've but if you shop around, you can built something fairly decent. But it is not easy. But yeah, understand if it's just not worth it also. Basically if you NEED to build something for whatever reason it can be done.

Macbook and potentially laptops might be ok alternatives. But macbook isn't really it if he wants to game widely.

Yeah they won't spin up more fabs because they were left holding the bag when prices crashed before. Can only hope China floods the market with their ram, but might be a little ways off, currently it's mostly going to china and isn't exactly on par with current tech but they are getting there. Well, AI coming crashing down would also be the other option. But I suspect it'll be kept alive forcefully be the elites.

That is fair. So... Mac, then, if you don't plan on PC gaming. As I said: better than Windows 11 at this point. And battery life is far better on Mac laptops anyway.

Not sure about what the performance on the mid-tier iGPUs are going to be like, but the Intel ones are indeed more energy efficient, from what I can gather.

It can indeed be done. Especially if you build using slightly older (albeit still powerful) components.

Yup. I basically said the same thing. Another notable advantage with Mac laptops is that the battery life is far better than on Intel and AMD laptops.

I won't even talk about Snapdragon laptops.

The Chinese RAM should be almost on par with their SK and Taiwan counterparts. Their laptop/desktop CPUs, though? They are still back at 2016 levels. If they can catch up in that area, they could give Intel and AMD some serious competition. But the US would most likely sanction them into the ground, because fukk competition and all that.

Same with crypto currencies. That bubble was supposed to pop long ago. But the kelptocrats have kept that shit alive artificially.

Yeah, I'm not 100% certain, but at the very least it seems like they were actually making a come back (price dependant) which is good to see. We need competition.

Yup. Prebuilts might actually also potentially have some ok details comparative to the end user buying stuff separate due to prices.

Yeah 100% They are fantastic on battery life and general use/productivity. So if you are using it for general use (and like Mac) it's basically a no brainer. I really hate Mac os though. xD I kind of regret my m1 macbook air but oh well.

Yeah, I think they were only like 2 years behind current RAM tech. HUGE catch up over the past like 10 years or whatever. Yeah, their GPUs and CPUs are trash, but considering how hard the US has been sabotaging them they are doing their best to play catch up. If China gets us better priced components then I'm all for it! There's also the fear shit spread about muh chinese spyware in everything as if we don't have to worry about the US lmao. Like shut the **** up, you're no better. I do not care if it's US or China I want good reasonably priced things. China wants a picture of my asshole to sell me cheaper hardware instead of the US getting a picture of my asshole? Sure. Where can I email it?

Yup, funnily enough, like every cryptobro grifted into an aislopper bro lmao. Same con artists.

Pre-builds these days are also dogshit in terms of value for money. They are also price-gouged to heck and beyond.

I have some experience with Mac OS, and I do think it is okay. However, yes, I would much rather use even Ubuntu and Bazzite than Mac OS (and those two Linux distros are somewhat of a pain in the ass).

Don't forget Israel. I would much rather have Chinese intelligence spy on me than that paedophile-haven fake country.

Musk is the perfect example of this. Grifted his way from promoting Doge coin or whatever to promoting Grok with its child-pron generator.

    Speaking of...

Yes, people are using Grok to take online posted pics of minors and make deep-fake pron of them. If you go to the Grok website right now and have a conversation with it that goes as such:

    * What limitations do you have?
    * Grok will answer with a long list that includes any kind of pornography generation.
    * And then if you ask it why people can still generate deep-fake pron with it despite the limitation...
    * Grok will shut down the conversation and say that there is too much traffic currently.

And, yes, I have tried the above myself. Did so after @nyaraVT over on youtube did a video on that shite.
