Try it out for a week and see. You need not use it as your default. Firefox is still my laptop's and phone's default browser, for example. Just check it out and then decide.

This is what my current Waterfox session looks like i.e. at this very moment.



See that purple line underscoring the local file (which is the second tab here). That is the private container tab indicator. I have set that tab as a private container tab and keep it constantly open (I can also choose to pin it to far left). So if I open any new private container tab(s), I can carry on where I left off in the private container session. I also will stay signed into any websites that I previously logged into in that private container session. However, if I close all private container tabs, including that local file which is set to private, or if I close this window outright, the private container session as a whole will be closed/expired; it will be like outright closing an independent private browsing window.

As I mentioned before: The private container tab session and dedicated private browsing window will be considered separate sessions outright. It will indeed be like having two separate private browsing windows/sessions (independent of each other) with one browser.

 

Huh? You misunderstand. With the pinned/always-open private container tab active, private container session will allow you to continue where you left off. Private container session activity is just not recorded in history, and will be closed off completely (i.e. unable to continue where you left off) if all private container tabs are closed or if the entire regular session window is closed.

In that window whose screenshot I shared? Well, if I keep that one private container tab open, I can pick up where I left off in other private tabs. I am, for example, logged into wikipedia and youtube in a private container session. I can open up wikipedia or youtube right now, and I will be logged in still. However, if I close that last private container tab (that local file you can see in the second tab) then the entire private container session will be closed. If I open a new one, I will need to log into wikipedia and youtube again.

PS:
You know of any good notes extensions for Firefox? I want to add one to either Firefox or Waterfox on my laptop. Notes by Firefox is no longer supported by Mozilla (albeit it is still maintained by a dedicated community team). Overall, it is not as user-friendly as Vivaldi's in-built Notes app (despite its simplicity) and has no option to change default font to a monospaced type.
