4.) Other. I think it was some form of medical experiment or something.

    King of Diamonds Pt. 3
With the mathematician and the security analyst gone, the medical student has decided to probe for more information about the process to become a resident of the Borderlands. A clever move for the author indeed.

The loan shark was eliminated as well, leaving the former resident of the Beach, now King of Diamonds, and the medical student.

A third and final rule is being added now.

    King of Diamonds Pt. 4
The new rule seems to force one the players to choose between 0, 1 and 100. I could definitely see this game being one of the most difficult to win with the player being at a disadvantage.

Time for a flashback on the King and how he came to be how he is.

It seems the origin of this game stems from some misguided regret the King has over his time as a lawyer working for a shady company.

Playing mind games. The medical student has some big balls.

    King of Diamonds Pt. 5
The chapter begins with a familiar face running into the King of Diamonds. Seems that the King is having flashbacks to his experience at the Beach where he learned that even in the period where people are forced to live in horrible conditions, they can find ways to make things lively.

The medical student is trying to make the King make a decision on the value of life.

That's a disappointing way for the game to end.

Down to four games remaining, including the King of Spades.

Yeah, I don't get Mahjong either lol. Yup, I think he just likes ******* people up mentally lmao.

Yeah, then again that makes 2 beach people involved as face cards IIRC. We have yet to see the woman.

Side story 6 chapter 1 was good. This game features Chishiya as a player and the Jack of Diamonds, Amon Komayama who was a gambling agent for a criminal organization and the game is Mahjong. Chishiya took the victory, as expected.

The second game here seems to be the King of Diamonds and a supreme court setting with just 4 participants. Chishiya is joining the group of three after just having cleared the Jack of Diamonds. He's planning on just continuing his sweet. xD Very interesting the King of Diamonds is the former beach associated #3 Keiichi Kuzuryu an international lawyer. Chishiya is extremely confident in being able to win.

    Sure does lol.

Yeah, it would just be a complete gamble for me. It seems ridiculous to think some could come up with some "mathematical formula" to hypothesis the number, and in Kuzuryu case it's way too accurate. While the mathematician was close, I think he relied too much on "logical statistics" not allowing for people to just go "**** it".

I don't see how this game measures how much a life is worth LOL.

Side story 6 chapter 2 was good. This game seems awfully weird. Also, the scales get a very corrosive solution called Aqua Regia made up of Nitrohydrochloric acid which is apparently strong enough to melt gold, but can't melt through the scales. xD I suppose gold is a "soft" metal usually.

Chishiya used the girl to his advantage to get a bit of back and forth going, which allowed him to claw back a few points. The girl also benefited. Kuzuryu remains in the lead. Benzo Yashige and Takashi Asuma are both out and deceased. Chishiya is closest to -10 points.

I feel like the writing was on the wall for that and seemed very obvious, but the confirmation is what he wanted I guess.

Side story 6 chapter 3 was good. Dude what the **** are these new rules lmao. If two or more pick the same number, their answers are invalidated. If a player choses the rounded average, the other others lose two points.

Chishiya got Kuzuryu talking. It was confirmed by cleaning all of the face card games, they become a resident. As a resident they don't have a visa expiring, which checks out with "resident" term, makes perfect sense and was expected. RIP to the woman, she got out. They tied the first round, then Chishiya picked the rounded number so she lost 2 points to -10.

This game seems super annoying to play honestly lol.

Yeah. I can't say I blame him, he basically just couldn't ignore what he saw as injustice. But on the other hand, Chishiya was right in pointing out the flawed view of never being able to save everyone, or him being the one to also put a value on people's lives. It's a bit of a tricky one.

Side story 6 chapter 4 was good. You can fairly easily see how Kuzuryu ended up the way he is now. Being a lawyer is definitely for a certain type of person, depending on the clients taken. In this case, I can't imagine being on the side of these very generically "evil" men that will happy take profits to even where it costs people their lives, and look down on them too for being poor.

Chishiya is definitely getting in Kuzuryu's head now. God damn, I feel like this is 100% truth right now. If you're not elite then you aren't human. Chishiya picked 100. xD

Dude won the whole game because he found the flaw in the King's current way of thinking and kept making him face the obstacle he was avoiding.

I just don't see aliens or anything. Could be a parody of Hell or Dante's Inferno type thing.

Did you watch the Netflix documentary about this whole question? They were trying to figure out insurance payouts for the Twin Tower terrorist attack for families. They were trying to answer the question of how much is a life worth, if you had to put a dollar value to it.

I think one of the biggest hypotheticals is you know a nuclear power plant's core is going to blow, you have a bunch of technicians who went down to check it out and a building full of employees above. You have one person with the choice. Give the people a chance to escape but risk the deaths of countless number or close the door and save thousands or millions guaranteed - the good old Trolley problem (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolley_problem) Yes, I referenced the Godzilla 2014 movie scenario haha.

    Chapter Fifty-Two
Ooh, a flashback chapter that goes back five months before Arisu and the current players arrived. We get to see the origin of the King of Clubs. I take that back, we learn about the origins of the entire party of face value cards and how they in turn, know each other.

Not sure I understand how them winning and becoming permanent residents would help the other players retire.

    Chapter Fifty-Three
Seems like this chapter is going to be one of those boring summary chapters that catches us up with a recollection of the main character's thoughts and how they have changed from their arrival to the present day.

Two of the final four blimps have fallen, there's only two games left. Things are picking up.

    Chapter Fifty-Four
Ooh, a meeting of Arisu and the medical student again. First time since the beginning of the game and when they split from each other after the collapse of the Beach. Dang the demon guy is still alive and causing problems. It seemed like the medical student was going to share something truly monumental when he was shot.

And there it goes, the medical student forcing the three of them to settle things as a battle royale, a game.

Yup lol, he really loves doing that.

Yeah, that's fair. It's really hard to say with how vague it has been.

No I didn't, but that is pretty interesting to think about. Similar take here it seems.

Yup, most definitely. It's not an easy question, but the reality is there is a price on it in most cases.

    Chapter Fifty-Five
And now we have a flashback chapter of the medical student/serial killer. Hmm, so he's a typical serial killer with a lack of emotional attachment. Now, Niragi is making Arisu face the truth of his own self-aggrandizement. He is obsessed with his own self-worth.

Arisu having flashbacks to what he should have said to his friends is tragic.

Usagi almost got shot. That's horrible. But the medical student sacrificed himself for her. He must have been moved by what Arisu said.
