I would say they were agreeing on certain perspectives and buddying up. But I don't think ningen would do that if scum (idk who CF is so no idea). But it's still a possibility

I didn't say it was a role fish? IDK why you feel the need to say this if you are Town. Town knows they are innocent, Scum know they are guilty. That's why I don't like this defence - because it assumes I was finding you Sus when I wasn't. I also don't buy that it was a joke.

I was wondering when I would ever find someplace to vote this day because most stuff has been NAI or Townie. I think I found my vote tho.

Well firstly, your latter point doesn't really apply here, because you quoted that post and that post alone and gave a town read there. Secondly, how is their tone different? There has to be something which tells you that their tone is different, t least then we (as in, the rest of the players) can judge that to see if we agree, or if it at least makes sense to think that. As it is, we have absolutely nothing except your word, and that makes it really hard to judge reads or give them any value at all. It might well be fine for you, but if there is nothing we can use later in there it doesn't really mean anything to the rest of us.
If they were the only ones to do it, surely that means it's a player thing, rather than an alignment thing? After all, we know everyone who answered and didn't bold can't all be scum. And you've still not really explained how it leads you to alignment, either. It might well indicate confidence and clarity, but can't that be conveyed by scum, too (particularly the former)?

Finally, Wowee herself questioned your reasoning for your read. That would imply she is cognisant enough as a player to be able to convey that regardless of alignment. She has later also pointed out that this is something she does anyway. Has that not changed your read at all?

Glob's tone is more game solvey here. Last game when they opened they seemed pretty unsure of themselves and latter contributed zilch. In this game they have made assertions and spoken their mind about things rather than being unsure. I am a bit concerned that they haven't really been around much since tho.

For the first question: Not necessarily. People are not always good at knowing when THEY THEMSELVES are doing something AI or not. I have caught Scum and they basically said "that wasn't AI for me" but it actually was. See where I am going with this? It works the same in reverse for Town reads as well.

And yes, I totally explained my perspective on how it makes them Town more than Scum. Bolding what is unnecessary to bold for its own sake is what I am ready as Townie. It shows that they are confident that they will investigate as innocent. If everyone or more than a couple bolded their answers it would be a moot point, but that's not what happened. Bolding the action makes they stick out. Why would you want your Innocents to draw attention to itself if you were actually guilty? And it can only be reassuring that they investigate as Innocent if they are one role: GF (or SK if they are Investigative immune).

Like I said in my first paragraph, it doesn't prove that people know everything they do is AI or not. If that were true then it would be impossible to ever catch Scum.

I mean, you also Town-read Prada, Scum read Crisp, simultaneously Town-read Glob and Scum-read Reaper, and Scum-read Nova, which were all essentially wrong.

But hey, you know the old saying: even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Doesn't change the fact that you assumed something you shouldn't have. IDK why you thought I was Sus of you, I was actually arguing the opposite.

Right, but likewise it doesn't mean it is alignment indicative, either. So it does come down to what I said - a player thing. You argue that it could indicate alignment, but it's more reasonable, I believe, to interpret it as a player gimmick. Similar to players who post in blue or italicize everything, even. The point I'm making here is there is nothing that inherently benefits Town by bolding what one investigates as to the point where it would suggest Town more than scum, in and of itself. That is to say, it doesn't hurt scum at all, neither does it benefit town. So as an action, it doesn't really lead to alignment.

It's similar, in a way, to people claiming people who make long posts are more likely town, or SK last game claiming scum players are more likely to engage with the game. Engaging with the game and making long posts are not things that work towards any specific alignment, which is what I'm trying to convey here. The action itself doesn't imply alignment at all.
But is it unnecessary? Rot just last game admitted that he missed my claim due to it being at the top, so would it not make some sense to bold it, to separate it from the main part of the post and help those keeping a list so they can see it more prominently? Additionally, Wowee also explained this is something she does anyway.

And finally, I don't think I agree it does imply more confidence at all. Maybe if you read it in one way, but it can be just as easily read without any confidence inferred from it because of the form of communication we are using here. Does underlining or italicizing infer similar tones with them? Maybe if viewed one way, but viewed another they are simply adding emphasis to improve how the post reads. And in this context, given that Wowee has stated she does it for reasons other than expressing confidence, and it is in fact premeditated, I think we can say that the point of bolding here was not to provide a tone of confidence. This isn't to say I don't think Wowee is town. I don't have much of a read there at all yet, but I've seen nothing to read her as scum. She might well flip town. The point is that this, I do not believe, is alignment-dependent.
Well if you were actually guilty, that's already in the thread. Whether it sticks out or not is irrelevant - if information comes to light which pertains to how one claimed to investigate as, then people are going to look back and find it. We have a player compiling a list as we go to monitor them too. That is to say, there isn't any real point to trying to have your claim slip under the radar. If it was missed, then people will be chasing it up until it's found. And the beauty of the medium we are using to play this game, a forum, is that messages are saved and viewable at any time over the period of the game, so what is said and posted in the game cannot be brushed under the rug, compared to how it could be perhaps in particularly fast-paced real life Mafia or in Instant Messaging Mafia. While scum themselves may want to fly under the radar, their claims here offer no advantage whatsoever because, as I've said, it simply won't stick if the information ever becomes pertinent. So it's not so much as wanting them to stick out, as it is that they're going to stick out regardless if it ever becomes a point of interest, whether you bold it or not.

But I didn't think you were suspcious of me. I didn't understand your logic, that's why I asked what you were saying. I'm not sure why you think I ever thought you were against or suspicious of me. If you read the post it explains why I am asking what you stance is because I couldn't figure it out with the logic presented

I went back and checked and they bolded last game so I am just going to say its a moot point.

I'm always here, sir. 24/7. Anytime. Anywhere.

    But okay sure.

The CR thing really did feel like a joke for the most part tbh, even if they happened to be scum. If they're town, then lmao, that backfired. If they're mafia, then lmao that backfired. I wouldn't be surprised if they were scum since I can see him being one, just that I didn't really see that whole thing being a big scum tell or anything by itself. I haven't seen anything he said so far that made him come off as experienced. Honestly, in context, I don't know what he could have said in response to CF that wouldn't result in "You're scum" "No, you're scum" etc. etc. Maybe that's just because I'm new myself, but I really don't think him not defending properly is a big scum tell. Though I do find it a little strange how he didn't put that much effort into defending (a page or so, I think), unless it's that easy for him to lose hope. Not that I know if he's just tired irl or whatever, but that part stood out to me a bit. He's someone to look at, sure, but I'm not that skeptical of him as some others are. It doesn't even matter if he's town or scum, I can't tell because to me, it looks like incompetence, experience regardless.

For you, Nick, I really do think your post was a joke. You made that post on page 2, when the CR and CF still feel like they are joking (right after CF was like, "we gottem bois, mvp medal get"). Granted, if you wanted to role fish, it would be risky to be more blatant with your intentions, and passing it as a joke would be more beneficial. Even then, I don't know why you would expect another role claim from the same dude who got grilled for role claiming last time. Like, it's not even, "you wouldn't do this as scum because if you were scum it would be risky/garner attention to yourself," it's just inherently a bad idea to invest in in any form to begin with. That isn't to say I'm leaning town for you, it just means that grilling you for that particular detail sounds off.

I don't know what to feel about Quick. I could be remembering things wrong, but although he does write shorter posts, the logic he used didn't sit well. That might just be because it's DP1, which ye, doesn't offer a lot on the table, but his town reads on Glo and that thing about bolding "I investigate innocent" sounded really weak, to the point it's off af. Granted, I haven't seen him play often and the one time I did, he subbed in and was an indie, so. :|

I haven't finished reading up technically, since I kinda skimmed over some of the longer posts among other things, but I'll try to add on/make corrections if necessary before the day ends.

    This is what you posted:

Why would you question why I was saying it was a role fish if you weren't thinking I was Sus of you?

    This is what I said:

How you get from that I am saying you are rolefishing is beyond me. I mean look at the last sentence, I clearly sated I haven't seen Scum actually rolefish before. So given that context, you defence is ill placed and is an admission of guilt.

You then go on to say how Town could potentially rolefish under an ignorant premise that Knowing what Scum role they were would even matter. It wouldn't matter, you would just lynch them. Then you say you would not know that which I don't get at all. Then you argue that only Scum would rolefish, which is what the whole premise for whether you were rolefishing or not stems from. You then explicitly say that you DO actually understand my perspective, so its a contradictory narrative that you are saying later that you DON'T understand where I am coming from.

    This was the original comment:

Its obvious that this was a joke (If I can get its a joke it really says something).

This is why I made the original comment - because I didn't see it as a rolefish and even stated that I haven't see Scum actually rolefish before. So how you get from that that I am saying you ARE rolefishing implies that you think I am seeing Scum rolefish for the first time. If not you would have no reason to make the comment you made in reply to mine.
