Did u notice Kaneki's speech bubbles? It has gone from white letters with scribbled background, to white letters with black background, and has also used the standard black letters with white background. imo this could be what it means. White background-standard caring Kaneki. Black background-Kaneki's showing dark side (basically the same mentality as Kanae and Eto. (They both had the same colored speech bubbles) in other words straight evil) Shaded/Scribbled background-Kaneki's true nature atm. (Twisted) ^I say that those bubbles are Kaneki's true self because that was the same kind of speech bubble that Ishida used when the present Kaneki first came into existence
I usually don't pay attention to the speech bubbles but that's a nice find. The changing colors could also indicate the intensity of the fight. Notice how it changed when Kaneki rips a piece of Eto's Kagune. To me, the shaded background represents a corrupted personality. I wouldn't call this his "true" nature but the unfortunate consequence of dealing with all the pain and emotion he's gone through. With his memories returning, I wonder if Kaneki has recognized Eto as Takatsuki. Another note: Ishida released this image: Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler The beak over his head resembles his Half-Kakuja mask- Is this possibly foreshadowing its emergence in the next chapters?
I didn't mean his true personality over all. Just the current Kaneki's true personality's true nature. I think of Kaneki like an onion. The dude has layers. Original black haired Kaneki was Kaneki completely in denial. White haired Kaneki only accepted a portion of his true self, Red Hair Kaneki is only accepting the bad. I think the scribbled speech bubble represents how twisted that version of Kaneki truly is. As for the picture it really does resemble Centipede, but why are Kaneki's ribs being pierced through I wonder?
Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler Literally the best page of this chapter.
Right now he's an evil onion. Agreed. Remember his superhero suit? It has the rib markings. I think it's nice.
It's literally me looking over documents and files in my school folder. OT: There's too much I want to say, so before I do a Caliburn level wallie, I'll summarise. I don't think this is the "return" of Kaneki, per se. I believe this is just the Kaneki that is the very literal byproduct of the really tragic life he's lead. He's a lot more brutal and uncaring, as displayed in the chapter, which is something quite different from the previous iterations of Kaneki we've seen. Kuroneki was innocent and kind, Shironeki was a lot more accepting and passive to the world around him but he was still capable of showing compassion and the same benevolence he embodied as Kuroneki. Haise Sasaki was a return to the Kuroneki persona, albeit with a better taste for combat, while Akaneki is the true embodiment of Kaneki's experience in the world. A culmination of everything he's been through.
All Hail King Kaneki. Congrats CCG you have created a monster Also more spoilers here http://www.mangamint.com/tokyo-ghoulre-56
