Water actually is a bad idea when wanting to make the burn from spicy food go away. It actually spreads the capsaicin (an oily compound responsible for spiciness) around your mouth and makes things worse. You're better of going with dairy products such as cool milk, yogurt, milkshake, lassi, even ice cream.
