This thread is for discussing the manga 666 Satan or O-Parts Hunter, written and illustrated by Seishi Kishimoto. The initial Japanese run of the manga was from 2001 to 2007 and there are 76 chapters spread across 19 volumes.​

Ruby Crescent is an ordinary girl. Her life is changed dramatically when her father dies and she becomes a treasure hunter as he was. Her objective is to find O-Parts: magical items hidden in ruins which grant people superhuman powers and can only be used by an O.P.T. (O-Part Tactician), Angel, or Demon. She soon meets a mysterious boy named Jio who, due to having a dark, lonely past, seeks to conquer the world. Jio is hostile to her at first, but ends up travelling with Ruby as her bodyguard. When Ruby is attacked by an O.P.T. claiming to be Satan, Jio rushes to her rescue and a battle occurs. Initially they are on the losing side, but Jio releases his true power and is revealed to be not only an O.P.T., but the real Satan. Thus, the two continue to travel together in hopes of unlocking their pasts.

Currently @Phenom and I are doing a weekly read along but everyone is free to post whatever they want. Our goal is 10-15 chapters a week, but since it was published monthly and has longer, 40+ pages chapters, so I think It'll be quite difficult. I have already read the first chapter and it looks pretty good. The protagonist Jio has an evil spirit inside of him, is also an OPT and of course has a pretty dark backstory.

Just finished the first chapter and I'm left with so many questions!

1.) Is this an adult manga like Dragon Ball? I mean we see Ruby pretty much in the nude in one of the panels.
2.) Why does the true Satan/Lucifer have some weird characters on his head instead of the usual 666?
3.) Is his half-white/half-black hair and eyes supposed to be some sort of seal imposed on him and when he's unconscious Lucifer comes out?

Not sure, it seems to be pretty important to her. Maybe it's just the sentimental value of it?

Yeah, saw that part in the first panel where he admits to being the twin brother of Naruto's mangaka.

 

It's a shonen manga so I guess it was just fanservice, or just simply him innocently drawing two dots lol

All those symbols represent the number six in their particular language (Roman, Indo-Arabic and Japanese). Maybe it signifies it's the real devil not bound to a particular culture

Idk. At first I thought it was a Yin Yang thing but the colored version has different colours so who knows.

Well, we can guess that it has something to do with his consciousness suppressing since 'Lucifer' said "Oh, it's him" when he was going to threaten Ruby and then his hair changed colors.

Yeah...suuuure, doesn't explain why those characters look and act suspiciously like the Akatsuki haha
