The thing is that for most everyday Indians, flagships are just a shit deal. Not only are they priced at ludicrous levels for our markets, they don't offer much for the prices that they are available for here. Most smartphone users here will get by with a Euro 150-400 budget phone. Literally only a tiny percentage of people here will get an iPhone or an Android flagship.

As for the A54: Yes, it is indeed a tempting option. And it actually does offer enough oomph for at least four years of usage. Heck, even Samsung offers for it four OS updates and five years of patches.

This is without question. The S23 ultra costs twice as much and offers literally double the performance, and with the SOC being more efficient. You do indeed get what you pay for.

Yeah. True. I mean... There are 5000 mAh battery phones which kick the snot out of 6000 mAh battery phones in battery endurance tests and real world usage. Funnily enough, three of these are Samsung budget A-series phones in the Euro 300 to 400 range.

I have no issues with Exynos on the performance side. I get by. The overall SOC quality is great. And efficiency + thermals on the latest two fabs of 5nm and 4nm Exynos chips are fantastic, resulting in great battery life without heating issues. My main issue with Exynos is that the 4G/5G modems on them have weaker signal reception than on their Snapdragon and Dimensity counterparts (though the Exynos 7904 and Exynos 1330 seem to be the exceptions here, being actually better than their Snapdragon and Dimensity counterparts in signal strength).

I bought Redmi Note 10 pro back in 2022 May (it was not even the newest model back then lol).It's working pretty great.

All my friends with Samsung in same price range A20s and 30s i believe are literally raging over their phones.If you want to buy Samsung buy the higher end one or just go for Chinese brand which are basically same but with ccp malware but ain't like CCP will be spying on me anyway.

It doesn't matter these days though. The Chinese brands and Samsung have closed up their features-to-price gap. Unfortunately, that is how free (lol) market works.

Samsung actually has pretty good offerings for the price these days, with Xiaomi offering better cameras and nothing else (they even suck these days in the battery back-up department). Take the Redmi Note 13 Pro, for example, which I recently bought for my wife (solely for the excellent camera). The Galaxy A34 and A35 offer a better deal in most ways, including a memory card option and superior signal coverage. They even have far better battery life and battery longevity. The Note 13 Pro has a better camera and nothing else. Even the performance on the CPU side is comparable (though the Note 13 Pro has a better GPU, which matters if you're gaming).

And don't even get me started on how Oppo and OnePlus have gone downhill, with even Samsung offering far better value for money. Take last year's Galaxy A14 (at least the Exynos 1330 iteration) as well as the A34. They blow all Oppo and OnePlus models in the same price bracket clean out of the water, including in the camera department (something OnePlus was known for).

Another issue with these Chinese brands (the Lenovo-owned Motorola being the exception) is that they have limited numbers of supported bands for the Indian versions, which they make up for with boosted SAR values. If you want absolutely top notch signal reception, either you have to get their international versions (which also have lower SAR values due to stricter norms in the EU) or get a model from a brand like Motorola or Samsung.

Yeah, the Galaxy models from 2018-2020 offered far less value (and performance) relative to price than their Chinese brand counterparts. I know this from personal experience. However, that gap has been closed since 2021's Galaxy AXXs line-up. As I said above, these days, there really is no features-to-price gap in the mid-range segment. It's only in the sub INR 15k segment that the Chinese brands win out. But in the INR 15k-40k range, Samsung actually offers better value. And that is saying something, from someone who wants to ditch Samsung for a different brand.

Meh... I feel like the CCP malware thing is blown out of proportion, based on what I've learned this past year. The issue isn't that, but more of bs adware that bombard you with sh!t you don't want, download apps without consent, and hog system resources. This isn't much of an issue with Oppo, OnePlus, and Motorola (whose UIs are more "clean" and close to stock). But it is so in Mi and its sub-brands. The sad thing is that it appears Samsung is also going this route (though you have better options to disable that sh!t in OneUI).

This is why I am strongly considering a Motorola this time around.

Only if you work for a government or somewhere where privacy is a top concern, you should consider an iPhone or Samsung Xcover series phone. For an ordinary user, you're good to go with a Chinese brand, if it meets your needs.

In India, it's often more. This is because of both companies dropping regional pricing and just plain price gouging, and the sentient w@nk stains who run this sh!t-show of a country having heaped all sorts of duties and indirect taxes on them in order to make up for the huge tax breaks they gave to the wealthy on both their income taxes and capital gains taxes.
