My counterargument is that you are talking about a completely different strategy and seem to have entirely misunderstood my post. I have not suggested this "peeking/cover" thing you're talking about, wherein seemingly all players pretend to be Cops so that the real Cop can state their investigations, lest they ultimately die. That's an interesting strategy that I haven't seen before, and I wouldn't mind coming back to a discussion about it later, but it is entirely irrelevant to the strategy I was suggesting.

I am suggesting that each player state how he or she would appear, if a Cop were to investigate that player. That is to say, if a player is a Miller, they would say "I investigate guilty" because that is the result a sane Cop would receive on that player, whereas if they are any other Towny, they would say "I investigate innocent." And Scum can do whatever they want, because either choice benefits Town in its own way.

Honestly, I don't know how you could read the post and come away assuming I was talking about this cover/peeking thing.

I'm sorry, but what? How would being Scum intrinsically inform a player what OGC meant more than being Town? Because, again, unless we're assuming for some reason that Scum are explicitly told how OGC specifically works in their role PMs (which, why would we assume that?), under OGC, Scum and Town can communicate with one another outside the game thread, and Scum would be doing so under the guise of being Town, and would therefore need to know if that's allowed.

 

OK, yeah, that makes a lot more sense. I started reading your post an just sorta stopped reading it midway through because I thought I knew what you were talking about. I didn't, so I see the merits of this post. Pretty snazzy if you ask me. I haven't seen anything like this before, likewise.

Its illogical for Scum to assume that only Scum have OGC. Its logical to not assume Town may or may not have OGC as Town.

You're really living up to your UN here. As town, ningen would still know by experience that it's only normal for mafia to have ogc. And as scum, he could be questioning the host's wording on that ("enabled by default") and not be clear on town's ogc. That was a really easy question to ask on his part, I don't see why you'd pull a read out of it.

Never been in a normal game that allowed ogc for everyone before, so I'm not entirely clear on it's benefits and drawbacks, but I agree that we should probably limit to using the thread. especially for early communication when we have yet to form a proper opinion on players.

I like the exchange between ningen, rota and quick, while complicated to read it's pretty balanced

 

Like most people here I'm new to a setup this open.
This game will be fun when we already have a discussion on a read this early.
Not to repeat what everyone else said, while I probably would not have asked the questions Ningen asked, I don't see how the second question could have been indicative of alignment.
Also, if anything the first question might have a slight scummy flavour.

Generally, it'll have been easier to say something like.... Refers the PM scum might....... Ignoring the some. With the "some" included it felt like, Ningen is scum but not part of an organized group.
That most likely is reading too much into it tho. The weird part is how Quick came to his conclusion.

Yeah, I get that, just meant if a read was based on it, it's the more natural one.

 

Im assuming at current there's not an SK, although i may think otherwise that's what im thinking right noww.
