    Update on the shoes:
    The length is right, but the breadth was an issue. This is because of my weirdly narrow feet. I found a lacing technique online that is supposed to help those with narrow feet and high heel arches. It made a surprisingly big difference. The shoes now hug my mid-foot much better, and they also help with my walking speed and mid-forefoot-strike power-walking technique. Last night and this morning, I was able to do a kilometre per 7:36 minutes. And I have no residual knee or shin pain.

    Indians in general have broader and somewhat flatter feet than other ethnicities. Then there be me. My feet are more like those of a skinny ass white dude's or a Chinese woman's.

    And, yes, there are indeed racial differences in overall foot shape, heel arch degree, pressure distribution, even the space between the toes.
