My new shoes came last night. I tried them a bit last night and all day today. They are quite good. And, yes, they really can be used for hiking/trekking as well.

The upper portion of the shoe is quite hydrophobic. The shoe as a whole does seem waterproof. I was able to confirm this thanks to last night's rains, and an unfortunate tap mishap this morning. The upper also dries fairly quickly even when drenched. The shoe as a whole was designed for Kolkata weather and usage in South India's ghat sections, both of which are known for their rains. So... Yeah. Them Bengalis make good shoes.

My only criticism so far is that the laces are a tad long, which can be a pain for someone who uses over-under lacing. I will figure that out tomorrow. Hmm... May be I'll try a Berluti knot.
