I support this, I don't like it.

It looks weird most likely because you're used to having it above your avatar.

We're trying something original, but if it does get annoying to look at after a while I don't mind adding in a change or two.

This is in implication that when the time comes, a huge majority of the people on this forum would think it looks "weird".

As kagerou stated, but that's not all there is to it, having the names on top give complications as it messes with the quick reply, and html of the message are. If i can find a way of doing it without it breaking, then by all means it can be on top again. Though, we'd like to see how they work out under avatars for a while.
