I think no one tries to reign him in, all of the editors are just yesmen now, which is a terrible combination for Oda who endlessly, and almost pointlessly at times, expands shit.

 

I think the holy knights and imu were a mistake that should have never been introduced, because it just overboats everything without adding anything worthwhile.

 

I think it just doubles up on too much shit. Like, aren't the holy knights cutting into CP0/Upper Marine territory? Doesn't Imu also just cover the same role the Gorosei did? Idk, I found it more interesting back when it seemed like the Gorosei actually controlled and tried navigating various situations, rather than just dude they're evil demons serving satan, or some shit lmao. Maybe that's just me. Just feels like those characters aren't needed at all, I also wouldn't be surprised if BB and Luffy have to team up against Imu, but idk, seems that way kind of.

 

Yeah, although maybe the "teaming up" will just be Blackbeard pulling up after Imu is on the back foot like with Whitebeard. Idk something like that is what I expect anyway.

 

Luffy can change for sure, I dunno about growing wings or some shit though. The Genie form, remember? Or you mean "permanent".
