Discussion Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Conflict

Episode 1 was great. Kinda surprised that a hefty chunk of it was a recap Uryu took down Shurata. Yhwach was able to awaken his Schrift "The Almighty" and he now has his eye powers back. I thought Uryu was A Lmao at Ichibei singing the entire hymn and then getting one shotted by Yhwach. I guess this is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object RIP Ichibei, you were all hype. Looking back squad 0 literally did nothing lmao Thankfully the real heroes are here. Ichigo called out Ichibei's name and he was revived, but his powers will take a long time to restore. He tasked Ichigo to protect the Soul King. Why is Soul King all enclosed in a crystal? Yhwach stabbed him Shunsui met with Aizen hmmmmm

 

Episode 2 was epic. So Yhwach's Almighty power is to be able to see the future. How does one even counter that Absolutely broken. Generational L by Ichigo unfortunately, being baited by Yhwach to pull the sword and then being controlled by the Quincy powers to cut Soul King in half. Adyneus looks so innocent, can't believe this limbless fellow is supporting the 3 realms Whelp RIP I guess. Yhwach is brutal. Probably one of the best anime villains. Everything is coming down. The King is dead. Holy.

 

Funny thing is that the name of 'Adnyeus' was first revealed in the incantation for Auswahlen.

Also... There was no explanation in the manga for why Yhwach had to use Ichigo to fully shatter the crystal trapping Adnyeus. The anime revealed that Evil Nazi Jesus required someone with the genetic traits of all the major races in Bleach to do so.

Yhwach was able to awaken The Almighty once again because Ichibei did kill him. Recall during their last meeting that Manako Osho cursed Yhwach such that he would not get his true eyes back till he died. The Almighty awoke, retroactively rewrote time, and brought Yhwach back to life.

Recall what Yhwach said to Uryu when unlocking his Schrift: You will have the Schrift 'A', the same as mine.

Ichibei was not all hype. Keep in mind that Yhwach is at least as powerful as Yama-jii (he had to be in order to steal Zanka no Tachi). And Ichibei was stomping him, and proved himself to be the second most broken entity in Bleach. Literally the only reason Ichibei lost and died was because Yhwach turned out to be the single most broken entity in Bleach (yes, Almighty is the most broken ability in Bleach, bar none) and he is literally the son of the Bleach universe's creator god. Ichibei lost to someone who is currently the single most powerful entity in Bleach, and he himself still ranks as the third most powerful. There is no shame in losing to Yhwach, especially so when Evil Nazi Jesus was getting his ass handed to him without his stupid broken powers.

Also... Now you know how the Division Zero members can be revived. Ichibei will later on just call out their names and revive them in a manner similar to how he was revived.

That is only as fraction of it. More will be revealed in Cour 4, so I won't say anything for now.

Anyway... Yeah. Moustache King is the most broken fatherfukker in Bleach. He has his dad's main power - a power worthy of a deity.

Speaking of... Take a closer look at Adnyeus's eyes. He also has The Almighty. Yhwach also talks about his father foresaw his own mutilation and everything that is passing now.

The vision which Ichigo has at the beginning of the second episode is anime-exclusive. It was not in the manga.

It reveals the primordial world, when all three realms were joined as one - as landmasses in the primordial sea.

It also shows a young Yhwach one million years ago - witnessing his father Adnyeus splitting the three realms into separate worlds alrogether, and thus creating the cycle of life and death and reincarnation.

It also shows a young Yhwach weeping at his father's mutilation, dying in the primordial realm, and then reincarnating in the human world 1,200 years prior, beginning the Quincy race.

 

Is Yhwach also a million years old like Soul King?

Unlikely. The Yhwach we know now is 1,200 years old. All we can infer from the vision shown to Ichigo was that Yhwach was around when the primordial realm was split, probably when his father was mutilated, and later cast down into the human realm to be reincarnated 1,200 years prior with a human mother. We know next to nothing about his prior life.

"Tricky" is an understatement.

 

Episode 3 was amazing. Ukitake was sick in his childhood and Soul King saved him. Man seeing him die like that feels like a personal loss. RIP to the kindest and the most gentle captain. The tremors have stopped for now, thanks to Ukitake. Even Yhwach wasn't able to foresee this ability. Absolutely nice. Shunsui meets Aizen and asks his help. Aizen is so Goated both sides asked for his help He definitely will have a big role later, he's a fan favourite. Aizen being carried out in a chair sent me

 

Just Soul King's right arm. Each of the Adnyeus's disembodied parts have developed sentience and become their own individuals.

In this episode we get two things that were never shown in the manga:

* We finally see Jushiro's parents and seven younger siblings (two sisters and five brothers). They were never shown in the manga.

* We see how Shunsui and Jushiro met. Man, their friendship is such a beautiful thing. Almost 1,000 years as best of bros. I love those two.

Soul Society never deserved someone as kind as Ukitake.

Yeah. For some reason, the hand that governs stillness is immune to being viewed with Almighty. Not sure about the hand that governs progress/evolution, however.

Episode 4 was super good. Ukitake struggles to keep soul king safe. He had Soul King's right arm which controlled stillness. Gamju Chad Orihime and Yoruichi try their best against the Stern Ritters. Ichigo fights Uryu. Man, what a tragic fight. Uryu ended up blowing a hole in Ichigo and Ichigo falls. Yhwach absorbed the Soul King and has taken another form. Absolute despair.

 

Yeah man that montage of them walking in the park was blessed. Not escaping the gay allegations though

If Ichigo really bothered trying against Uryu, he'd have won without any difficulty at all. Ichigo right now is more powerful than Yama-jii and Ichibei (at least in terms of raw power) and much faster as well. Uryu himself pointed out that Ichigo was being soft and not going all out.

Yhwach is right now the Soul King himself. He is right now the undisputed most powerful entity in this universe. That combined with The Almighty makes him nigh untouchable.

Ukitake:
I can see him being gay.

Kyoraku:
Clearly overcompensates with his interest in chicks. I can see him being bi. He's a beautiful dude who could definitely swing both ways.

A fun fact for you:
Both Jushiro and Shunsui are canonically quite beautiful men, and well known in Soul Society for their looks and intellect. Jushiro would always make female squad members weak in the knees. We see this in a flashback. Shunsui is regarded as "beautiful and charming" by no less than Rangiku. Shunsui also once did a photo-shoot for the Women's Shinigami Association's magazine, and his sets sold out quickly (though he doesn't know this).
