    I feel like that's all we really learn about the friend, but I could be wrong I'm very spotty on stuff. I like to think Aizen was just being a dick and wanted him to be a fly. LMAO.

    The species he transformed into is literally the name of his zanpakuto (the name of the Japanese bell cricket in Japanese common parlance). And a zanpakuto, I will remind you, reflects the user's own soul. So it isn't Aizen's doing. Tosen is spiritually (and literally in resurreccion) a Japanese bell cricket.

    His hollowfication and resurreccion were kind of subtly foreshadowed, actually.

    - The name of his zanpakuto = Japanese bell cricket

    - The tsuba on the zanpakuto of all (or most) shinigami is gold, brass, or bronze in colouration. Tosen's tsuba is bluish-silver, like the tsuba/handguard of all Arrancar zanpakuto. Another major clue.

    - Tosen can use Descorrer (as seen when he retrieved Grimmjow) which is a technique unique to Menos-class Hollows and Arrancar, and which apocryphal material confirm hollowfied shinigami can also learn.

    Oh damn, that's actually super cool it was done that way. Yeah, I know that, I just wasn't a ware the resurrection was the same vein. I mean, kinda does look like a fly, ifi t was a hollow. xD Sounds like it was all well planned out and designed that way, which is very cool to know.

    Do you think Visoreds are included in that, or likely not because of them kind of being imperfect? Because based on what you've said, seems like Tosen is actually probably perfected version, more than I thought, although I still feel like he was a test for Aizen trying to push the boundaries. xD Maybe not.

    Kubo plans a lot of things out way in advance. Not all, but definitely a lot of things.

    There were things revealed in TYBW which he planned out back when he was doing the Soul Society arc.

    It may actually be possible - at least in theory - according to a Q&A response by Kubo himself. We have seen the Visored use Hollow techniques like Cero and (I think) Bala. However, as you said, they were imperfect and Tosen is a more . . . refined product. We saw him use Descorrer, Sonido, even high-speed regeneration.
