That was on the 5 GHz band. On the 2.4 GHz band, I had 60 mbps download and 0.23 mbps upload with 40 ms ping. I restarted the modem twice, and now everything is back to normal.

5 GHz band: 107 mbps DL, 115 mbps UL, 12 ms ping

2.4 GHz band: 70 mbps DL, 60 mbps UL, 20 ms ping

What does your dad need with an S23 Ultra? Does he need the S23U cameras and stylus support?

    Understandable, then.

Not really. May be a little; but only to the point that it is hilarious, not crippling.

Yeah, I feel as though a mid-ranger would be enough for the average senior citizen. If his dads wants an S23U, he must give proper reason(s).

I assume he doesn't "need" it but just the tradition of him getting old phones. Still, he should appreciate that it is up to him when he upgrades the phone, so he gets good value. If he needs something right now, then he should look at some general options, like A54 from samsung, etc.

The A35 (which I bought) would be better. The A35 is literally an A54 but improved in almost every department except size (because it is bigger and heavier). He can also consider the A55 and A56, which are phenomenal when it comes to battery life (and I feel as though this would be dad's biggest priority). He can also consider non-Samsung options like the Moto G Stylus or something from OnePlus. May be even Nothing?

I didn't specifically mean A54 but just to give an example of a lesser option, I was specifically thinking A56 in my head, but yeah

ok, so dad's a postman, he's on his phone 24/7, I want to give him a beast to support his needs.

buying and giving 500 euro for a phone is pointless when I can just give him my 23 ultra.

    Okie :okhand

In this case, would it not be better to get him a brand new mid-ranger from 2025 instead of a flagship from two-and-half years ago? The Galaxy A56 would more than satisfy his needs (unless he requires expandable storage) and it would be much better than your S23U in terms of both battery life and thermals (because you say he is on his mobile 24/7 practically). You can also wait for the upcoming A37 and A57, both of which will no doubt have fantastic battery life and even better thermals.

    Uh... Wait a bit?

Look, I don't know about you, but with regards to your dad, if he does not need flagship level camera performance, a mid-ranger would suffice. And even if he does need camera performance, I think a postal worker can get by with a Samsung, Motorola, or Nothing mid-ranger.

However, quite frankly, I think your dad would prioritize battery life and thermals. In that case, the Galaxy A55, A56, A37 (upcoming), and A57 (upcoming) would be better for his usage.

Heck, postal workers and delivery personnel over here get by with budget devices that cost Euro 200-300 from the likes of Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, and Nothing. And that too in hot tropical weather and in heavy monsoon rains. In fact, I think Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo devices (in that order) are the most popular among postal workers and delivery personnel over here, with Nothing slowly catching up to those established names.

but why spend money when I have nothing to do with S23 Ultra then, I won't sell it because it's a shame to sell that for 350 and then buy A56 of same price lol

I'm getting an iPhone either way so S23U is just free to get...and in terms of performance S23U is still universes away compared mentioned phones >_> is it not?

    Depends.
1500 or whatever today for a new phones then giving your dad the S23 isn't a free upgrade. It's a 1500 cost for you for that upgrades him if neither of you actually need an upgrade right now.

If you can get another 4 years out of the phone, and a cheaper phone was bought today, then that would mean that it's a 400 cost, so savings of 1100. Then when you actually need a new phone, you could pass it down, but it might be irrelevant because at that point the battery would probably be so worthless the phone would also basically be worthless.

depends on what you get more value in. If you upgrade now maybe this is a normal cycle for you so there really isn't any "wasted" money or whatever. But if you're upgrading like 3-4 years early just to give your dad that phone, it's really not a "free" give but it's costing you the money to upgrade. But idk, I would probably at least try and hang about for a sale on the phones, but now it's hard to say if a good deal is likely given the whole ram issue.

Either way the value is up to you.

I do get what you mean but his phone is literally borderline dead.

Also even if I buy a new phone, I am spending 400 euros.

The thing is, I want to switch and I DO need a watch. So if I buy a Samsung watch again, would be pointless to switch.

The stars aligned now, I want to switch and I need a new watch, dad borderline doesn't have a phone.

I tick my boxes and his boxes. If it's a time to switch, it's literally now because I will invest in a new watch regardless and I don't wanna spend 400 a phone and then that much more for a watch when I can contribute that 400 towards a phone or a watch and just give my dad the phone.

Also I am not stupid and I do look for sales...for 3 months now actually, the supplier for iphones in Croatia...still doesn't have a Pro Max lmao...bruh...
