Yeah, that was my thought they are going 100% on things to live in the moment, which I believe was a point they did make themselves.

Has protentional for a clustrefuck execution. There are three factions here, if we count the hidden one, maybe more.

 

Chapter 18 was good. So the premesis of The Beach's hideout is 90,000 m2 with 140 rooms, an occupancy of 800 people with the parling lot's occupancy being 200. The rooms are organised by rank. 1F = Lobby, Bathhouse, 2F = Restaurant, Banquet Hall, 3F = 90+ 4F = 10-89, so on 8F = empty, 9F = #2-9 and 10F is the "royal suite" with #1. Each room has a keyed lock, but the interior itself is only secured by a simple lock so accessibility isn't lost when someone dies. Smart.

The rooms are filled with various items form the previous occupants as no one bothers to clean them out given they aren't used for long. Arisu is relaxing in his room. Arisu and Usagi arrived 4 days ago at the beach. It's day 18 of Arisu's entry to borderland and they have 3 and 4 days left on their visas respectively, so they'll need to participate soon. Wonder if they'll be split up?

The executive officers have had a meeting about the current state of things. With being closer to having collected all cars, they now struggle to get the remainding new cars. The 7 of hearts was the first new one in two weeks. But, they haven't found a single face card (Jack, Queen or King and presumably Ace? Maybe even Joker, unless that isn't counted). Now, three of the executives need to participate in the games.

Wow, Arisu has jumped from 71 to 60 and Usagi from 72 to 50. Usagi warns Arisu of the militants having an eye on him. Arisu was pretty successful with his information gathering. One group formed a team and went on recon. When they reached the prefecture border a deep jungle was on each side. So it's almost like the holy city has been ripped out and moved to the centre of a jungle. I doubt it's specifically that, but seems almost like it. The arenas only pop up within the 23 districts. Some people tried escaping west on a helicopter, but weren't heard from again. Another group tried escaping by boat, but after making it about 12 nautical miles, laser beams rained down killing them. One person theorizes aliens implanted chips in their brains to mess with them and there is no escape.

Looks like Arisu found the pile of decomposing corpses tossed out of the beach. The previous "traitors" that were dealt with. This is when Chishiya and Kuina approach him. Chishiya asks Arisu how he'll live in this despair riddled world. His answer is to raise Usagi to #1 so she can be freed if only a single person can leave. He still also wants to know who's responsible for the games and how he can avenge his fallen friends. Chishiya calles out how unrealistic it is to get Usagi to the top, so he brings up his plan to have the "slaves" take out the "king". Despite a warning, Arisu decided to listen to their plan. This played out exactly as I expected.

An is participating in a 4 of diamonds game. The question is which switch turns off the light. There is a light bulb in the other room. On the other side of the door are three switches. Only one switch turns on the light. Switches can be flipped as much as they like if the door is closed. The door can't be opened or closed if someone is inside with the light bulbs. They get a single guess. The water is also rising and if it reaches the exposed wires, the game is over. Idk, I feel like this trial and error went around the guess, but I guess it was for licking in the answer. An was able to bring their survival odds to 100%, she's extremely intelligent.

Wow, I didn't expect a move to be made so quickly. #1 and #3 are already dead. The story is they were killed in their game. However, #1 was murdered. They don't know what actually happened to #3 yet. An speculates it's someone either trying to rise through the ranks or flip the order, and they're part of The Beach and it's a rebellion.

Yeah, #6 seems incredibly intelligent, plus can deal wiht high strees situations without issues. Seems like a good leader, given that The Hatter and #3 are both dead. I didn't expect them to die so soon, I thought The Hatter was going to be around for a while.

 

Chapter 19 was good. The news of their deaths spread by the next day. There has been some movements with the rankings. Aguni is #1, Niragi #2, Mahiru #3, An #4, Mira #5, Last Boss #6, Chishiya #9, Kuina #11, Usagi #41 and Arisu #51. Those are the important ones. Definitely not good with Aguni as the new King, for Arisu and Usagi. Even the others, as now the order is lead by someone who is said to be violent.

I'm assuming Arisu/Chishiya/Kuina killed the two, or at least hatter, but due to the favourability of their deaths, it's pinned it on the militant group. largely, or those close to the top. So, Chishiya's plan was to steal the cards with the death of The Hatter. Does that mean they actually weren't involved with his death? Their opportunity to steal the cards, is the location of the safe and combination being passed down to the new #1 from the sealed envelope prepared by the prior #1 who has died. Honestly, despite the issues they have, this system is genuinely genius. Chishiya needed one person to infiltrate the royal suite while the ceremony was ongoing and knowing he's cornered, Arisu volunteers.

Arisu found the safe and Chishiya actually figured out the code. He's also incredibly intelligent, although this stuff seems awfully convoluted for them to have made under these dire conditions. LMAO. So Aguni's expression changed when checking the envelope, Chishiya realised it was likely due to the envelope being blank due to The Hatter being so cautious. However, the "BOSS" seal wasn't "BOSS" it was the code 8055. Only for it to fail and it not be the code. LMAO. Ok, pretty fucked up for a "birdie" to dob Arisu in to Aguni, presumable Chishiya. Chishiya used this as Aguni looked to the location of the real safe, allowing Chishiya to deduce its location which is behind a painting. So the punishment picked for Arisu is a beating then locking him in a room tied up and blindfolded so he dies when his Vis a expires. Brutal.

Chishiya played it off to Usagi and Kuina that he couldn't warn Arisu in time. Usagi wants to save Arisu and leave, but has been warned of the room being guarded. This is when the others come in and start to assault Usagi. Not sure how they get out of this.

I would assume they'd be more straight forward, yeah.

 

This volume had 10, next has like 3, so nah.

seems like 332 pages, so either the side story is over 200 pages or there's a part 6 that is also here.

 

I expected Chishiya to betray Arisu, but didn't expect it to be literally immediately lol.

 

The chapter name makes the sidestory seem still relevant so it's got me confused lol. I guess it's just because it's a separate game while the main one is ongoing. But yeah, Will work out what we're doing this week if the side story is 200 chapters. I assume there will be a part 6 in there, but idk shit is weird.
