Becoz second friend was not Fukubei. He was Katsumata the other guy with Ultraman mask. The guy who took blame for kenji stealing ultraman badge and the guy who was going to commit suicide but Kenji played 20th century boy at that exact moment. He had Fukubei's face becoz plastic surgery

can't blame you his char is literally either a masterpiece or asspull of highest order however you see it

 

If the temperature was below 20, yes :D

 

And his ears are smaller:v, hair looks more "flat" and its color lack some 'depth'..etc.
Also, his design was more childlike, rather than looking just like a miniature of Shinnichi with almost adult face.

But the thing is, we were only making fun of a character's design that changed drastically through the years. From kinda chunky in his first appearance to thin the second time, then to fat as his current design. And there was a mini arc where he lost weight within a week or less and then went back to fat. And all these things happened in less than a year lmao.

Haha, at least they admit it.

All animes that last a long period of time do this apparently l

 

probably art evolution happened over time and we are comparing apples to oranges

 

that is my favorite version of artstyle in anime

 

Yeah, I know. I'm not saying the new art style is bad, just pointing out the differences.
Also some characters looked goofier in the old art , so both had their ups and downs.

I like this one a lot because of nostalgia. <3
