Nah, as much as I love the show I don't have that much time to waste though I really wish I did cause I totally would.

The fire Nation has built up is military power for generations, while the water tribes and air nomads had not sure they had capable fighters but military training wise they lagged far behind. The Earth Kingdom is clearly much better off than the others but their large size is somewhat of a weakness since they can only spread so thin and its shores gave the fire nation plenty of landing points for evasions. It also has less proficient benders overall than the fire nation.

It can be hard to discuss things without slipping into future episodes...

I am restricting myself to the 10 episode limit it's kind of like watching it over again.

Somewhat. It's also other factors especially for the Earth Kingdom that began far before the Fire Nation attacks things like corruption and divisions within the kingdom itself. It feels a lot less one unit versus the fire nation and as for the other two they are also divided so getting coordinated forces with them would have been tough even if they were prepared for the fire nation assaults before the air temples were attacked.

 

I agree. The Earth Kingdom seems like it was based loosely around feudal China. Lots of nations with large populations but no universal cohesion whereas the fire nation seems more like the Mongols or Huns

 

I guess because of the island nature of the Fire Nation I always likened them more with Imperial Japan. Those examples do work just as well though.

 

Yeah, I can see that as well, either analogy works.

 

Cept that time he stood up and Zuku was like 'nah'.

 

I know, right? The whole controlling the flames so that they harmless pass through friendlies and yet harm the villains and burn away the chains holding Zuku and the rest of Aang's crew.

 

I thought it interesting how they added the weakness of pride for Katara, making her seem a little more human, in the way she reacted to Aang, the avatar, being able to easily learn another bending skill.

 

Finished episode 4, loved it. The people of the kyoshi were so nice but so retarded. I mean dude Aang was literally partially responsible for your village's destruction and the old guy gave him a warm hearted farewell. But I guess it's cause he was the avatar and saviour of the ninja world or something. Sokka was a pretty cool though.

 

It was because of instead of just fleeing like everyone expected and wanted him to, he rode the beast of the lagoon put the fire out on the village, saving them from losing everything. Houses that are burned like that can be repaired, houses burned to the ground completely and turned to ash cannot.
