Not that small. I mean... Even today Scandinavians make their babies take naps outside in subzero temperatures. Vikings are hardy as **** against the cold, man. Modern day Scandinavians even swim butt naked in arctic waters today. Even non-Vikings can survive a surprisingly long time buried in snow. In fact, it's actually up to 10 Celsius warmer under the snow than the air above. Being buried probably saved him.

You really need to read up on how hardy real life Vikings were. They were monsters. And keep in mind that fiction (be it western comics or manga) often exaggerate the physical capabilities of even non-superhuman humans.

Refer my points above about monstrously resilient Vikings and fiction exaggerating even normal human capabilities.

I mean... In Vinland Saga itself, we've seen Vikings pull off shit that is far beyond real life human capabilities. I recall one guy destroying most of a hut with a single swing of his axe. That is just plain ridiculous.

Not really. Even fictional works that are marketed as realistic are going to have exaggerations. This isn't just a problem with manga, but fiction in general.
