Yeah, that was one of the best fights in the series. Also, Gohan did make Goku more than flinch. He was evenly matched with SSB and Goku managed to overpower Gohan only by going even further beyond with Kaio Ken.

As for Gohan's future power: Remember that Vegeta declared Gohan's potential to be far greater than his and Goku's own (something to take seriously considering Vegeta is still arrogant even though he's a good guy). I wouldn't be surprised if we had an "Ultra Instinct bargain sale" as with DBZ's Super Saiyan bargain sale and Gohan ended up with Ultra Instinct and surpassed even Jiren. I'm not saying it'll happen for sure. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised.
