Asta and Yuno were abandoned together at the same church and have been inseparable since. As children, they promised that they would compete against each other to see who would become the next Emperor Magus. However, as they grew up, some differences between them became plain. Yuno was a genius with magic, with amazing power and control, while Asta could not use magic at all, and tried to make up for his lack by training physically. When they received their Grimoires at age 15, Yuno got a spectacular book with a four-leaf clover (most people receive a three-leaf-clover), while Asta received nothing at all. However, when Yuno was threatened, the truth about Asta's power was revealed, he received a five-leaf clover Grimoire, a "black clover"! Now the two friends are heading out in the world, both seeking the same goal!

I waited for this anime so long and it's finally here!

I am a big fan of Yuno's and Asta's VA's it fits so well with them! First ep. was epic got me so hyped

 

Started as a mediocre shounen, but turned into an enjoyable and decent Manga. Good to see it finally having an Anime adaption.

Good first episode i must say and i just hope they follow the story!

 

Kinda surprised seeing that coming from you,I thought you'll bash the manga

 

I wanted to, but as i said it turned into an enjoyable Manga.
And as long as it knows how to cover the shounen cliches somewhat decent i'm okay with reading it.

Damn. I can't tell if I hate Aster's voice or his constant screaming. They really need to do something about that. Overall good episode. Think I might just go and read the manga lol.

 

Fun fact the VA is new,Asta is his first character and I like it,he sounds exactly how imagened Asta to sound

 

Yeah but this screaming is way over the top. He screams for every second he gets. I'm interested to know more about Asta's grimiore so I think i might give the manga a read since I have nothing better to do right now. The manga's art lacks detail so i don't know about that.

 

That's Asta in a nutshell an annoying screamy character :D I'm big fan of his VA since finally something fresh and new!

 

Haven't seen it and only read a couple of manga chapters. Gave up quite some time ago but I am glad if the genre has above solid entires even after the big titles ended.

 

I heard this is a direct copy of Naruto. Should I watch it?

 

The series (at least the manga, haven't seen the anime yet) was clearly trying to mimic "Naruto" when it ended and "Black Clover" started. That being said, the series have since found it's own tone and own approach to commonly shared topics with other Shonen Jump series. Hence, if you can live through the early stages of the series, and claw past the "copy" parts, then it really is a remarkably good series.

 

At what chapter would you say the manga starts to develop its own tone?
